Kristi and Kerry were both tired of their non existent love lives so on the advice of friends they both decided to signup on match.com. Kristi signed on to match in November of 2005 and Kerry signed on in April 2006. Their paths crossed when Kristi posted a pic to her profile in May 2006 (Kerry being the shallow man he is was only searching profiles with pics LOL) and luckily Kerry's friend Wes suggested to search for people in the Lansdale area. Even more lucky yet, Kerry did not wait to email Kristi since on the day of May 15th, 2006 Kristi was logging in to match to pull her profile after a number of unsuccessful dates when she saw an email from Kerry and after reading his profile ***hmm, not a bad guy***, decided to give it just one more try. They emailed back and forth the rest of that week and finally spoke on the phone that Friday night. After going through batteries on Kristi's two cell phones and cordless and back to a recharged cell phone, they decided it would be easier if they just met face to face.
Kristi and Kerry met for the first time on May 21st, 2006 at the TGIF in Montgomeryville. It was a Sunday afternoon and at the time Kerry was working 2nd shift and had to be at work at 5pm. They met at around 1:30 (both arriving at the same time) for dinner, drinks, and lots of good conversation. When it was time to go, Kerry being the gentleman he was/is walked Kristi to her car and made a piss poor attempt to kiss her goodbye ***Damn she's short***. Kerry said he'd call her and sure enough as soon as all his work that had to be done was done he called her and soon enough Kerry's shift was done and the batteries were dying again. Amazingly enough the batteries lasted long enough for them to talk well into the wee hours of the night (with only one recharging).
Kristi met
Kerry at his work and they picked up dinner at Subway and headed off to
Whites Rd Park. Upon arriving at the park they staked their claim to a
picnic table in a pretty shaded area as far away from everyone as
possible. For some reason (still to this day) Kristi has no idea why Kerry
sat across from her not next to her when they sat down to eat. They ate
dinner and talked about you name it. While sitting there talking a cat
comes along, hops on Kristi's lap and finally Kerry sees the purrfect
opportunity to go sit next to her. Just figures it would take a cat to
bring them together as Kristi is an avid cat lover. After spending some
time with their new friend they then had to say goodbye as it was time to
take Kerry back to work. Once they got back to The
Reporter it was time for them to part for the night. Finally, after
bugging the crap out of Kristi all night he got his long awaited kiss good
night. Ahhh but that was not it for the night as once again they stayed up
until the wee hours of the morning killing more cell phone
batteries.
Their third date took them to the very romantic location of Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, Pennsylvania on Memorial Day Weekend in 2006. It was a chaperoned date as Kristi's mother and step father were in attendance. Also Kerry's father, brother, and nephews were in attendance as well. Third date - time to meet the family! Didn't get to talk too much as it is very loud at the races. Probably why Kerry's brother chose this location as his first date with his future wife :). After the races were over Kerry walked Kristi back to her car with her parents and asked whether her parents would get upset if he gave her a kiss goodnight. Kristi went back to her parents house and Kerry took his dad, brother, and nephews back home to Hellertown. Of course as soon as he dropped them off Kristi's phone was ringing once again. Who knows how late it was when they hung up and went to bed. The next night Kerry called her from work and Kristi said "I'm tired of talking on the phone why don't you just come up to moms after work". As soon as Kerrys shift was over at midnight he hopped in the car and made the drive from Lansdale to Jim Thorpe in record time, talking to Kristi the entire way even through the tunnel. That was the night of May 28th, 2006 and they haven't spent a night apart since.
When Kristi and Kerry met, Kristi was living in her own home in Lansdale and Kerry was living in an apartment in Coopersburg. Since Kerry really wasn't spending a whole lot of time in the apartment anymore (he'd stop by to get a shower after working in the garage and pickup mail) and most of his stuff had slowly migrated to Kristi's house. They discussed it and said "what the heck let's shack up". Originally Kerry's lease was up at the end of August and the plan was not to renew it and move out then. His landlord said she had someone who wanted it now so it could be vacated a month early. Luckily Kerry had most of his stuff already packed and ready to go because two days before moving day (July 28th, 2006) he had a stupid male moment (tripped over a lawn mower) and dislocated and broke his elbow. Sure made moving day a joyful experience but thanks to Kerry's friend Judge, his brother Keith, his mom, and of course Kristi it all got done in one day.
Kerry purchased Kristi's engagement ring from Belden Jewelers on October 25th 2006. He told all his friends and Kristi's family he had bought the ring and was going to propose. Pretty much the only person who didn't know was Kristi and no one let it slip! The only question was how to do it. At the time Kerry worked Sunday through Thursday and had Fridays off. On Friday he would usually take Kristi to work, go up to his brothers and do work in the garage and then pick Kristi up from work and they would go home. Kristi has 2 cats and the first thing she does before anything else when she gets home is feed them. As they were leaving on Friday November 3rd, just as they were getting in the car Kerry said " I forgot my MP3 player. Get in the car awhile and I'll be there in a minute." Kerry really didn't forget his MP3. He ran back in, got the ring, and left it open on top of the cat food.
Since Kerry didn't want to take clothes along (and have Kristi ask what they were for) and also very much did not want to propose in dirty garage clothes fortunately his brother loaned him some clothes to change into after working in the garage. Kerry picked Kristi up promptly at 4pm as normal and they headed home. Normally Kerry would head right downstairs to get changed out of his dirty clothes but he wanted to be right there when she saw the ring. So as to not attract any attention to himself he slowly emptied his pockets out patiently waiting for her to open the door to get the cat food. Of course today she had to first go GET the mail, then OPEN the mail, and of course READ the mail aaargh!!! Kerry emptied his pants pockets and put everything back in several times WAITING.
Finally she opened the door to get the cat food and upon opening the door she just stood there staring without saying a word for what seemed like an enternity. Once she realized what she was seeing and still confused as to how it got there a big smile came on her face. Kerry got down on one knee and put the ring on her finger and she said "Of course you know the answer". Kristi of course called her mother (even though her mother already knew). After a lengthy conversation with her mother, Kristi and Kerry went out to dinner to celebrate.
